About the Presenter:
Steve A Arshinoff received his MD at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and attended the University of Toronto ophthalmology residency. He is in group practice in Toronto and holds academic appointments at the University of Toronto, McMaster University (Hamilton, ON) and Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Beer Sheva, Israel).

Dr. Arshinoff’s has authored >270 peer-reviewed publications and chapters in 19 medical textbooks, is on the editorial board of five peer reviewed ophthalmology journals. He has delivered over 750 lectures worldwide, and currently researches simultaneous bilateral cataract surgery (SBCS), antibiotic prophylaxis for intraocular surgery, phaco machine design, and ophthalmic viscosurgical devices.

Dr. Arshinoff was among the first to perform photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) (1991), and was the first to propose and use topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to alleviate the pain of PRK (July 1991).

Dr. Arshinoff is the designer of the Ontario Medical Association - Canadian National Institute for the Blind (OMA-CNIB) Mobile Medical Eye Care Unit (MECU), and is the medical director of the program. He has spent 1-3 weeks per year in ophthalmic outreach to northern Ontario, Canada, with the Eye Van, for over 30 years.

Dr. Arshinoff has served on the council of the Section of Ophthalmology - Ontario Medical Association. He is the Founding President, and was a Board Member and Annual Meeting Program Chairman of the Canadian Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery for over 10 years, the Founding President of the Eye Foundation of Canada, and a founding and current executive board member of the Toronto Ophthalmological Society. He is the founding president of the International Society of Bilateral Cataract Surgeons (iSBCS), and is an active member of many other academic societies, including the International Intraocular Implant Club, of which he is President-elect.
