Nigel Morlet has researched and published widely on the epidemiology of cataract surgery complications (particulary endpothalmitis and retinal detachment)using the datalinkage service in Western Australia. His other main research focus currently, is instrument design for efficient cataract surgery. Previously he won the Royal College of Surgeons' Cutlers Prize for surgical instrument design . He has an active private clinical practice in corneal and refractive surgery as well being a Consulant at Royal Perth Hospital.
