About the Presenter:
Dr. Akova obtained her MD degree in 1983 and became a specialist in ophthalmology in 1990 in Istanbul Medical Faculty of Istanbul University, Turkey. During her residency training, she spent one year (1989) at Cornea department in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, England.
She completed her subspecialty trainingthrough a Cornea fellowship in Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore USA (1992) and an Ocular Immunology fellowship in Massachusetts Eye and Ear Ýnfirmary (1993), Boston, USA.
Currently, she is a professor of ophthalmology at the Department of Ophthalmology in Baskent University, School of Medicine and directs the Cornea Department and Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Unit in the same institution.
She has published 133 peer-reviewed articles in international journals,other articles in Turkish ophthalmological journals and 11 book chapters, and well over 100 international abstracts. She is also editor of
1st and 2nd edition of textbook of ophthalmology published in Turkish.

Ocula allergy, dry eye disease, corneal and limbal transplantation, ocular immunological diseases, uveitis, and Behçet’s disease
